New Premium verification mode: members verify on protector-bot.com, and Protector recognizes the device of an account that already went through.
A banned member coming back with a new account went past the button and the captcha alike. With web verification, they are spotted before getting in.
How it works
In /config or on the dashboard, Verification, choose the Website mode. The panel keeps its button: a click gives the member a private link, valid for 30 minutes.
The member signs in with Discord and clicks Verify me. Access arrives a few seconds later.
What is spotted
Same device, or same browser on the same network as an account already verified on the server: that is a probable alternate account.
Linked to an account banned from the server, it is kicked automatically (or banned, or left to the staff, your choice). Other cases stay in quarantine, and the staff decides with the alert's Let in, Kick or Ban buttons.
With Premium Plus, a connection through a VPN, a proxy or Tor is also spotted.
Fixes
Also in this version:
- A notification bot added to the whitelist (General module) now also covers the webhooks it creates: its @everyone announcements are no longer deleted by the anti-webhook.
- Anti-nuke: the dashboard and /config now say exactly when each level reacts (Strict: at the 3rd channel or role deleted within 30 seconds, Balanced: at the 4th, Relaxed: at the 6th).
- On the dashboard, the three severity levels now stay on one line.
- Several error messages are gone: /config and /autoconfig used in a server where Protector is not installed, a ticket claimed after its panel was deleted, a captcha answered in a channel that had just disappeared.
- A server that had just taken Premium saw "Verification unavailable" on the website for a few minutes: the verification link now carries the server's plan, and the page opens right away.
- An alternate account verified on another server went unnoticed: the comparison now covers all verifications, and the staff sees the linked account as soon as it is a member of or banned from their server. The VPN check also has its own daily quota.
- The VPN check of Premium Plus servers now goes through proxycheck.io, with a much larger quota: it no longer stops working after a few verifications.
- After clicking "Verify me", access now arrives on Discord in one or two seconds, instead of several seconds, or even a minute right after a bot restart.
Privacy
Protector only keeps encrypted fingerprints, never your IP address in plain text, and a server's staff only sees linked accounts that are members of or banned from their server. Everything is detailed in the privacy policy.
