Patch notes

Protector now drives Discord's own defenses

Four new features that act at the source, with the tools built into Discord: before a message is posted, before an invite is used, before a DM is sent.

A bot always acts after the fact: it reads a message, then deletes it. Discord, on the other hand, can block upstream. Protector now drives these native features for you, from your usual configuration.

Invites and DMs paused during a raid

As soon as the anti-raid locks the server down, Discord pauses invites and direct messages between members until the end of the lockdown, with its official "unusual activity" banner. It is the only answer to raiders who send scam DMs to your members.

On by default, in Anti-raid. The pause is lifted at the end of the lockdown; one set by your staff is never touched.

Discord AutoMod shield

Protector keeps three native AutoMod rules up to date: banned words and invites, mass mentions, and spam. Discord blocks these messages before they appear, even if Protector is offline.

To turn on in Anti-spam, or with /autoconfig. Your own AutoMod rules are never touched.

Discord onboarding

/autoconfig and the server builder set up Discord's native onboarding: default channels for newcomers and, with the builder, a "Pick your roles" question. Requires a Community server.

Linked roles "Verified by Protector"

A member links their account once on protector-bot.com/linked-roles. Servers can then reserve a role for verified members (not on the global blacklist) or for accounts old enough, from Discord's settings, even without Protector on the server.

Documentation and legal pages:

  • Anti-nuke: dangerous permissions (Ban, Kick, Manage roles…) given to a role that almost every member has, like a Members role, are now treated like @everyone: they are removed at once and the author is neutralized.
  • On the dashboard, a server on the free plan can now start its 7-day Premium trial in one click, or subscribe right away through the Discord store. Premium settings show an Unlock link.
  • The end of a Premium trial now shows what Protector did during it (attacks detected, sanctions, automatic backups), and is also posted in the log channel, not only by private message.
  • A bot placed above Protector's role and kept in quarantine no longer sends the owner a new decision panel every 20 seconds: the first one is enough.
  • The documentation has a new "Native Discord features" section.
  • The privacy policy, cookies page and terms describe the linked roles and the native features.
Protector

The security bot that keeps your Discord server standing, and now brings it to life too. A question? The support server is there for that.
