An image posted then deleted no longer vanishes without a trace: Protector reposts it in the message log.
Until now, the log only kept the name of a deleted image: Discord removes it from its servers along with the message, and the link stops working. Someone could post a shocking image, delete it, and leave no proof.
How it works
When the message log is on, Protector sets aside the images of each message as soon as it arrives. If the message is deleted, the "Message deleted" entry shows the image itself, with the author, the channel and who deleted it.
Up to 4 images per message, 8 MB each. An image marked as a spoiler stays a spoiler in the log.
What is never reposted
An image removed by the NSFW filter is not copied: the log channel is not age-restricted. The entry simply says so.
A purge (bulk delete, /clear) does not repost images one by one.
Fixes
Also in this version:
- Join log: Discord updates an invite's use count with a short delay, which caused wrong "inviter unknown" entries. Protector now reads the invites a second time, and a join through Server Discovery is named as such.
Privacy
Copies stay on Protector's server for 24 hours at most, then they are deleted. An image is also deleted as soon as it is reposted in the log. Everything is detailed in the privacy policy.
