Terms of use

The rules for using the Protector bot and the protector-bot.com website.

Updated Oct 24, 2026

This translation is provided for convenience. In case of difference, the French version prevails.

1. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Discord bot Protector ("the Bot") and the website protector-bot.com ("the Site"), together "the Service". By adding the Bot to a server, using its commands or logging in to the Site, you accept these terms.

2. Description of the Service

  • The Bot provides security and moderation tools for Discord servers: anti-raid, anti-nuke, anti-spam, filters, verification, logs, backups and community tools.
  • The Site offers documentation, security tips, a dashboard to turn a server's modules on or off, and a form to report users.

3. Access conditions

  • You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and be at least the minimum age required by Discord in your country.
  • Adding the Bot to a server or changing its configuration requires the Manage Server permission. Some protected modules are reserved to the server owner and the security role they choose.
  • The dashboard and the report form require logging in with your Discord account.

4. Login and account security

Logging in to the Site uses Discord's official authorization system. You are responsible for the security of your Discord account. Any action performed from a session opened with your account is deemed to be yours. The Site never receives your password.

5. Acceptable use

It is forbidden to:

  • use the Service to harass, cause harm or get around Discord's rules;
  • attempt unauthorized access to the Site, its data or the Bot's infrastructure, disrupt their operation or bypass their limits;
  • automate access to the Site (bots, scraping) without written consent;
  • misuse commands, for example to deliberately trigger sanctions against innocent people.

6. Reports

  • A report must be honest and accurate. False, malicious or repeatedly unfounded reports may lead to restricted access to the Service, or even a blacklist entry.
  • Attachments must serve to prove the reported facts. Sending sexual content involving minors is strictly forbidden, including as evidence: describe the facts, give the IDs and links, and report directly to Discord and the authorities.
  • The Protector team reviews reports and freely decides what action to take. A report does not entitle you to any particular sanction or to a detailed answer.

7. Automatic moderation: limits

Automatic systems can produce false positives or miss abuse. The administrators of each server remain responsible for their configuration, their moderation and the decisions made on their server. The Service is an aid, not a guarantee against every attack.

When a bot has been added recently, Protector removes its permissions and leaves the server owner to choose whether to allow, kick or ban it; it does not ban a new bot on its own. If an automatic action turns out to be unjustified, contact support: the team will correct it.

Native Discord features. When a server enables them, Protector acts with Discord's own tools on its behalf: it pauses invites and direct messages during a raid lockdown, keeps AutoMod rules named "Protector · …" up to date, and sets up onboarding through /autoconfig or the server builder. The server's own AutoMod rules and onboarding are left as they are, except the onboarding replaced by the server builder.

Linked roles. The "Verified by Protector" status only means that the account is linked and not on the global blacklist at the time of the last update. It is not a guarantee about a person. Each server freely decides which roles depend on it.

8. Global blacklist and Protector team

The Protector team may add an account to the global blacklist when it poses a danger to protected servers. This power is reserved to the team. A blacklisted account can appeal with the /appeal command on the support server; the team decides freely.

Recruitment. Applying to join the Protector team does not entitle you to a place or to a detailed explanation. The inspectors' written assessment must be taken alone, without outside help and within the time allowed; any attempt to cheat leads to the application being rejected. The team decides freely.

Premium and Premium Plus are offered through Discord's store and are also subject to Discord's terms. Their content may change; basic protection remains free.

Protector API. The API (documented at /docs/api) can be used for free within lower limits, or with the API Pass, a 30-day purchase sold through Discord's store (each purchase adds 30 days, with no automatic renewal). Keys are personal: you are responsible for their use and must keep them secret. It is forbidden to get around the limits (multiplying accounts or keys), to resell access or answers, to publish or build a database from blacklist answers, and to use the API to harass or discriminate. The blacklist answer (yes or no) must never be the only basis of a sanction. Abuse leads to the revocation of the keys. The API is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability or of the accuracy of each verdict.

10. Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and as available, with no commitment to continuous availability. It may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or reasons beyond our control.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator cannot be held liable for indirect damages resulting from the use of, or inability to use, the Service, including loss of data, messages or members, nor for the actions of third parties on Discord.

12. Intellectual property

The Protector name, its logo, the Site and its content are protected. Discord is a trademark of Discord Inc.; the Service is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Discord Inc. Icons come from Lucide (ISC license) and the Inter font is distributed under the SIL Open Font License.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by removing the Bot from your servers and logging out of the Site. The operator may restrict or suspend access in case of breach of these terms.

14. Changes

These terms may change. The update date is shown at the top of the page; important changes are announced on the support server. Continuing to use the Service means accepting the new version.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
