The principle
A cookie is a small file the site stores in your browser. Cookies that are strictly necessary for the service you ask for (staying logged in, keeping your language, securing a form) are exempt from consent. They are the only ones we use.
Cookies used
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
pd_session | Keeps you logged in after logging in with Discord. The cookie holds a randomly generated token, which itself contains no information about you. On the server, this token is linked to your account (your Discord ID): that is what keeps you logged in. The server only stores a fingerprint of it, not the token itself. | 7 days, or until you log out |
pd_oauth | Protects the Discord login against hijacking attempts. | 10 minutes |
pd_next | Brings you back to the page you were on before logging in. | 10 minutes |
pd_flow | Only set when you link your account on the Linked roles page: tells the Discord login to finish the linking instead of opening the dashboard. | 10 minutes |
pd_form | Protects the forms you can use without an account (link check, account reputation): another site cannot submit them on your behalf. Random token, no personal information. | 1 day |
pd_lang | Remembers the language you chose. | 1 year |
pd_dev | Only set when you go through the web verification of a Premium server. It holds a random identifier, of which the server only keeps a fingerprint, to spot an alternate account on that server. | 1 year |
All these cookies belong to the site itself, are HTTPS-only and cannot be read by scripts.
Local storage
Two pieces of information stay in your browser's local storage and never leave your device:
protector.tips.v1: the tips you checked on the Protection tips page;guide-step: where you stopped in the setup guide.
Third-party content
Avatars and server icons are loaded from Discord's network (cdn.discordapp.com), which then receives your IP address as with any content it serves. Your browser calls no other external service.
Minimum age
The site is used with a Discord account. It is therefore not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age Discord sets in your country if that is higher, in line with Discord's Terms of Service.
Deleting cookies
Logging out deletes the session. You can also clear cookies and local storage from your browser settings; you will then need to log in again and pick your language again.
